3 A LETTER FROM THE AFP WNY PRESIDENT Dear friends, Your generosity and dedication is the reason we are celebrating today! Thank you for believing so deeply in the incredible work done by fundraising professionals across the public sector. Philanthropy has been the engine driving our community through some of the most difficult years of recent memory. We have been humbled to witness acts of immense generosity: from hundreds of thousands of meals delivered to frontline caregivers as a way of saying “thank you” at a time when there were no words, to millions raised to show that hate has no home in our fair city, Western New Yorkers know that philanthropy is love in action. We understand the inherent connection between all of us, and it is because of this connection that we are called to care for one another. At times, this work feels daunting. It is no small task to gather the resources we need to feed the hungry, heal our neighbor, educate the next generation, bring beauty to our world, or house the homeless. But when we work together there is no doubt that our missions will be achieved. I hope that you are inspired by today’s celebration.
